As we say goodbye to 2021 and move forward into the new year we’d like to reflect on some of our most exciting moments of 2021. It’s hard to squeeze just 10 moments into our list as this year has been momentous for Concirrus: we expanded into new regions, new talented faces joined the team and we were able to get together again after a year covid restrictions. Read on below to see our top 10 moments.
1. The introduction of our new company values.
At the start of 2021, we introduced our new company values. At the back end of 2020, we had a working group with representatives from each team who worked together creating our new values. We were then able to ensure that the values were representative of all our employees and as inclusive as possible. Having values that reflect who you are and who you strive to be is extremely important to the success of any company. Over the past year, we have strived to live by our values and we hope to continue to do so into 2022.

2. Our Data Strategist, James Whitlam featured ITV News!
In March 2021 the Suez Canal in Egypt was blocked for six days after the grounding of the Ever Given (a 20,000 TEU container ship). Our resident shipping expert, James Whitlam discussed the efforts to refloat the Ever Given sharing his analysis of the incident with ITV News! It was a Concirrus first to have one of our team featured on ITV news and James did a superb job at representing team Concirrus.

3. Team socials returned!
With covid restrictions beginning to lift throughout 2021 our team were able to get together in person to resume office socials and celebrations! Although throughout numerous lockdowns we were able to continue socials via zoom nothing beats face to face interaction. It was fantastic to see our team back together again. Below check out the team celebrating Diwali, our run club, office parties, and team outings!
4. ISO 27001 certification

This year we were certified to ISO 27001.This is a big achievement for Concirrus because it shows business maturity and builds customer trust of our data security. Having reached this milestone is with great credit to our team who have supported the company, understood and applied the processes, and built the necessary systems that have made our company recognisably secure.
5. Concirrus expanded globally & Sparks Insights acquisition.
At the beginning of the year, we announced that we had expanded our commercial offering into Asia with the appointment of Mike Davies, former Asia Pacific Marine Leader at AXA XL , and Oliver Miloschewsky. In September we announced our expansion into the US to help further build relationships with key customers in the North American market. Leading this go-to-market charge is Scott McConnell, who joined us as our new Chief Commercial Officer.
6. 2021 client events!
We had the opportunity to host two client events this year! In April we hosted the Concirrus Digital Transformation Forum 2021, an evolution of our 2020 Concirrus Power20 event. Both united a community of like-minded digital visionaries focused on applying new technologies to drive value in the Marine Insurance market. We were joined by clients including Skuld, Chaucer, AEGIS London, and North Group.
Later this year we hosted our end of year networking drinks in our brand new London HQ office in Devonshire Square! This was a chance for our clients to catch up with the team and meet other key contacts from the insurance industry. We look forward to hosting more events in 2022.

7. The Insurtech 100 list!
We are thrilled to be recognised in this year’s InsurTech 100 list. The prestigious list features some of the world’s most innovative technology companies that address digital transformation within the insurance industry. The list is compiled by a panel of analysts and industry experts who voted from over 1,400 companies.We are proud to be included on the list alongside companies including AdvantageGo, Greater Than, Qumata, Relay Platform, Sure, and ThingCo.
8. The Concirrus Diversity network
The Concirrus Diversity Network is an initiative that provides our team with a safe platform to discuss diversity, equity, and inclusion. Over the last year we’ve had monthly meetups to listen to each other, educate ourselves, and celebrate our differences. Through our Diversity Network this year we have been able to learn from each other as well as several insightful guest speakers including Just Jaz, Polly Shute, Rosemary Frazer, and Nicki Kelly.These speakers shared their experiences and perspectives with us, covering topics including bias in design, disability awareness, the LGBTQIA community, inclusive language and more!

9. Concirrus Advisory Panel
In March 2021 we announced the formation of our advisory panel that brings together experts who, between them, have decades of experience working in the global insurance and technology markets. We are lucky to have built up over the past year a stellar penal with business leavers in both insurance and fintech including Paul Jardine, David Croom-Johnson, Jonathan Ibbott, and more!

10. International women's day 2021!
To celebrate International Women's Day 2021 the Concirrus Women's Network hosted a special IWD zoom event! We were lucky to be joined by several women in leadership making a difference within their industries, from the tech world to the charitable sector including Rosie Turner, Kirstin Duffield, Lorraine Emmett, Liz Churchman, Madeline Bailey, and Jasmin Julia Gupta for sharing their stories. During the meet-up, they discussed shared experiences, how we can empower each other, how we can help women find their voice, and how we can go about turning our words into action while supporting women entering the working world.
